Tales of Symphonia follows Lloyd Irving and his friends as they start off in a journey of world regeneration, meant to replenish their world, Sylvarant, with mana. As the party goes through a series of JRPG dungeons to complete this journey, they discover that Sylvarant is connected to a parallel world called Tethe'alla and that the worlds are vying for each other's mana through the journey of regeneration. They collectively decide that this is bad and, after a lot of trial and error along the way, collect more party members and end up merging Sylvarant and Tethe'alla together into one world. The main antagonist, Mithos Yggdrasill, tries to turn Colette into a vessel for his dead sister Martel and it goes badly for everyone involved. Lloyd ends up killing him and the group germinates a Great Seed into a new Giant Kharlan Tree to supply the world with mana.
Tales of Symphonia 2 takes place two years after the worlds were first merged. Sylvaranti dissidents create an insurgency known variously as the "Sylvaranti Liberation Front" and the "Vanguard," with which to rise against the Church of Martel and the Tethe'allans. The story follows Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi as they try to fix weather problems plaguing the world and keep the summon spirit Ratatosk out of the hands of the Vanguard. The two meet all of the party members from Tales of Symphonia, try to figure out of Lloyd is really as sketchy as he first seems to Emil, and dig into Emil's identity issues. Eventually the group makes a final push to close up Ginnungagap, the gate that separates Niflheim, the realm of the demons, from the mortal world, which no one talked about until this game. Everything more or less works out fine, unless you're Richter, in which case it doesn't.
This is where the AU comes in! A few years after those events, Another Tale takes place. |

| 15 Second Summary |
The Chosen of Sylvarant who went on the Journey of World Regeneration the day she turned 16 in order to save her world from destruction! Saving her world from destruction involved slowly losing her humanity and sacrificing herself for the world, which she was perfectly fine with until her friends strongly objected to this method and looked for another way to save their world. This involved some trial-and-error which resulted in the deaths of countless people, but ultimately did change their world. Saving the world is a constant process, though, and she is always working at it.
Colette is enthusiastic, clumsy, brave, a little quirky, and quick to do what's right. Because she grew up knowing that she would die to save the world, she has a bad habit of putting everyone else's needs before her own and hiding her own suffering from others. After the various events in canon and the encouragement of her friends to have a little self-worth, she has learned to move away from that, but still possesses a strong desire to help others. She puts a lot of faith in her loved ones. There's a lot of earnest energy in everything she does. Also, she loves dogs. |
